This week, I am most especially grateful for family and time we've been able to spend together. The big event this week was a baby shower for one of my sisters, which took place yesterday. We all gathered at my mother's house for a family party to celebrate a new baby coming into our family, have good food, good (goofy, crazy) times, and shower my sister with gifts :) It's not very often that all seven of us kids and our own families are together in one place, so these sorts of family events are very special!
the girls were responsible for decorating the cupcakes... they worked together with their cousin and did an awesome job!
Jenna posted this photo on Instagram :)
cousins!
this is by no means a great picture, but we almost never get photos of all four of us at once!
We also had opportunity to take LOTS of various combinations of family photos, but I don't have copies of those yet :)
other things for which I am grateful this week:
to have my girls home
and to be able to spend quality time with them
and to know that they are learning as they need to be, not as someone else dictates

for the smell of cupcakes!
for all of the baby shower prep we had to do this week going successfully...
baking, gift making, various other preparations...
I was so happy to finish up the 36 granny square blocks I was working on for a baby afghan to give my sister...I will finish putting the blanket together before the baby is born :)
for the girls' eye doctor visit going well
for a new magazine to read
I'm always happy when a new issue comes in the mail!
for beautiful snow, and for how full bird feeders = happy birds to watch :)
What are you grateful for?
I've been doing these weekly gratitude posts for over a year now, if you want to see how the series began, you can read my first Remembering Gratitude post.
How lucky you are to have such a big family. I miss that sometimes. We have a big extended family but rarely get together. And all those lovely cousins! They look close in age too. Those cupcakes were awesome! They did such a good job! You have a beautiful family Susan. :)
ReplyDeleteI like having a big family, but it is so hard to keep up with everyone! The cousins are all relatively close in age...the closest is my niece Alexis. She is only 6 weeks and 2 days older than Lauren!
DeleteThanks Karen :)
yay for family time and cupcakes and other good stuff. I really like the family picture!
ReplyDeleteThanks Theresa :)
DeleteI'm going to have to check out that magazine... sounds like my kind of thing. I'm always looking for new stuff to read!
ReplyDeleteThis week, I'm particularly grateful for a couple of WARMER days!!!
I bet you'd like the magazine, Joan. I've been getting it for several years. Sometimes libraries have it...maybe you'd be able to preview an issue that way.
DeleteI love the photo of all the cousins and your family photo too! I'm so glad you got to spend time together...I can imagine it's hard to get everyone together when you have a large family.
ReplyDeleteWe just got back from visiting with family and seeing my sister's new baby:) The girls are smitten with her and really want to go back down and stay longer. I have to agree that my little niece is pretty cute! I bet your girls will love having a new baby in the family too.
And I said it before but...I love the colors you chose for your sister's baby blanket. It's going to be beautiful!
Thanks Jenn :)
DeleteI saw the photos of your new niece on Instagram and she's adorable!! Yes, my girls will be delighted with a new baby :) I wish we didn't live so far from my sister...and the baby is due right around the time that I'll be taking over as director at the library.
Great week, and those cupcakes look very yummy. I can't believe how much snow you still have - it's been in the 80s here :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Natalie :) We have very little snow here now...it warmed up a bit and then we got a lot of rain. It is still VERY chilly, though. No 80 degree weather for us yet!
