Remembering Gratitude #72: Snapshots From Our Week

I am grateful:

for a beautiful Sunday afternoon

for our TV antenna...no paid TV access for us!

for the girls going ice skating with their Daddy...it was a win-win situation...they had a great time and I got a stretch of quiet time all to myself!

for green cleaning methods...it's been years since I've bought "conventional" cleaners at the store {although I do buy laundry detergent on sale (I have made it in the past)}...I've been collecting lots of tips for green cleaning on my DIY and good to know Pinterest boards

for a warm, dry basement so we can dry laundry clothes in the winter months without using the dryer...I have a new commitment to using the dryer as little as possible

for Pinterest, and the internet in general, for learning new ideas

for my common sense, even when I stupidly fail to listen to it!

that our coffeemaker still works, even though I tried to kill it earlier this week  ;)
{no, not really, of course...just a stupid instance of NOT listening to the above-mentioned common sense}

for overtime for David and a few extra working hours for me

for some money earned by selling games we no longer wanted at our local consignment shop

for good conversations

for my girls completing their projects from January and being so proud of their work!
Lauren's poster about Leonardo da Vinci...the product of her independent research
about one of her favorite historical figures

Jenna's self-designed case for her iPod...
made using the Sunbonnet Sue pattern she learned from her Grandma

for my girls' inspiration and excitement to teach us a Lego class

for being able to leave work early when one of the girls is sick...it's great to have the sort of job where the girls can go to work with me, it's like a second home, and it's a flexible work environment

for working out the details of beginning a mother-daughter book club...it's a VERY small group {only one other mom and daughter so far}...but it's a start!

How was your week?  What is on your gratitude list?

I've been doing these weekly gratitude posts for over a year now, if you want to see how the series began, you can read my first Remembering Gratitude post.

{If you follow me on Instagram, you can see snippets of our week as I post photos, and get a sneak peek into all that I am grateful for...the photos I shared in this post were ones I shared previously on Instagram. My user name is learning_247 :) }

  1. I wish we had an antennae like that. We have an indoor one that gets about 4 channels. I love reading your gratitude post. They always make me remember my blessings nod the girls usually do a larger project a month? I am VERY interested in Project Based learning. You are lucky to have a job that allows you to leave if the girls are sick.

    About to go check out your latest 'Pins'. ;)

    1. I had previously discussed the individual project idea with the girls, and starting in January, they each had at least one project that they were spending time working on. Our plan is for them to always have some type of project...whatever they choose.

  2. Yay for green cleaning products! I think the only thing I still buy is Seventh Generation dish soap. I've figured out how to make everything else:)

    I've said it before, but I love how your girls are such self starters and independent learners! To me, that's one of the best benefits of "schooling" the way that we do:)

    Sunbonnet Sue makes me smile. My grandmother made me a quilt with that pattern before she passed away. It is one of my treasures! I'd like to make a baby quilt for my sister's baby that will be born in March. I might just be motivated enough to start one soon...we'll see! I'm the queen of great ideas, then I struggle with following them through to completion;)

    1. I agree...that is one of the best benefits of our type of learning! The thought of curriculum makes me run in the other direction {except when I get in a freak-out mode...which happens every now and then ;)}

      Sunbonnet Sue makes me smile, too :) How special that you have that quilt from your grandmother! I'm working on a crocheted afghan for my sister's baby. I am worried I'll run out of steam, but I pushing myself to get it done by the time the baby is born. The baby shower is actually planned to be in early March, but the baby isn't due until the end of May.

      I also am a queen of ideas but have difficulty with the follow through. I've been working on narrowing down what I really want to do and focusing on those few things. It's tough for me!

  3. I need to get better at the green cleaning products. I use vinegar for a lot of things or just plain water. But I could probably do better.

    I have been making things I pin. I had to challenge myself to actually use the pins and not jsut pin them!!

    Yay for overtime!! I am hoping Jason gets some soon--this time of year is hard. My boss is on a tear today because our budget was cut SIGNIFICANTLY--she is trying to make it without getting rid of anyone!

    1. Vinegar and plain water are very good choices!

      I know what you mean about the pinning. I do refer back to my boards a lot, and I try to only pin things that I really think I'll/we'll use. I do have some boards that are just pure inspiration, though.

      Oh goodness! I hope your library doesn't have to cut out TOO much...yikes!
