Welcome to "Favorite Resource This Week", a weekly link-up hosted here on our blog. All of us have so many wonderful resources that we come across and use every week, and it's great to link up and share our favorites! **Resources of any type are fair game...books, videos/DVDs, websites, favorite television programs, computer games, field trip ideas, ideas for using old materials in a different way...anything that has worked well for your family.** Feel free to use a post you've already written that's applicable and link it up! If you don't have a post, it's fine to just leave a comment...and remember to check back and see what others are sharing!
I post "Favorite Resources" on Fridays, but the link-up remains open through the following Thursday, so you can link any time. You can link your post below. Please include our blog button (HTML code is on our sidebar), or a text link back here, in your post. Thanks so much for linking up and sharing...I am looking forward to reading everyone's posts!!

Note: after this week I will be taking a break, until after the holidays, from posting a new Favorite Resources link-up on Fridays. I'll probably resume the first Friday in January. I'll keep this link-up open until then.
This week I have no new finds to share. The resource that is my favorite this week is Blogger. I have posted about this once before, but I do have to honestly say that Blogger wins it for me this week! Let me explain...Jenna and Lauren each have had their own blogs since June. After the initial excitement wore off, though, they have been writing on their blogs VERY little. This is OK, they don't have to keep up with their blogs for my benefit, but I think that they would really enjoy it. Recently, I've been wondering a bit if I should incorporate some more formal writing into our routine. Both girls write a fair amount on their own, without me suggesting anything. Lauren, especially, writes a lot in a various array of journals, and she takes notes from books she reads. Jenna doesn't do as much writing as Lauren, but she and I have a together journal that we write in, back and forth. She does do some writing on her own from time to time. Still, though, I was wondering if we should be doing some more. I want the girls to have great writing skills...I think that possessing good writing skills is important for whatever one might decide to do in life.
That brings me back to blogging for the girls. I have never given up the idea that I really believe that it could be an excellent tool for learning about writing for Jenna and Lauren. We have been talking about the girls' blogs off and on lately. They both wanted to make them private, maybe have readers by invitation only. So, I changed the settings for them, and made them as private as possible, with me as the only other person who can access what they write. After some discussion, Jenna actually decided to create a second blog to keep as her personal gratitude list, and the first blog she wants to use for creative writing assignments which she has asked me to give her. Lauren decided to recreate her original blog to be her diary. She is thinking about creating a second blog to use for research. They both made some creative changes to the appearance of their blogs, and have been writing on them. They are newly inspired! :) YAY! I love self-motivated learning!!
If you're looking for some more good resources, check our Favorite Resources page...I often add new items to the list.
